In December of 1993, Mangiere launched EATFLEET, the first foodservice Group Purchasing Organization (GPO). EATFLEET’s customer base of 130 independent foodservice operators boasts annualized sales of $72 million and remains one of the nation’s most robust GPO’s serving independent restaurateurs.

Working in collaboration with co-founder Kara Richter, Mangiere launched his second business, From Bags to Riches, in October of 2004. In less than two months, FBTR grew from a zygote of an idea to a fully functional Web retailer. By
using a first-to-market approach, FBTR has become an industry innovator in the rental of luxury based products.

During FBTR’s first year of operation, Mangiere oversaw a critical change in the business model. Mangiere audaciously shifted the company from a membership required to a membership optional service. This change produced great success by increasing margins and enabling the company to bundle service and product options.

Prior to relenting to his entrepreneurial spirit, Mangiere held the position of vice president of sales & marketing in Nordic Ware’s home division. During his five-year tenure (1983-1988), Mangiere played an instrumental role in forming two new business units within the company. He also co-chaired Nordic Ware’s first regional and national strategic business reviews within the sales department.

From 1965 -1981, Mangiere planted his firm, consumer-product roots with well-known retailing giants. In 1965, he started his retail career with JC Penney’s manager-in-training program and was first assigned to the Rochester, NY store. In 1974, Mangiere transitioned from store-operational management to corporate-buying responsibilities beginning with Gold Circle stores. As senior buyer, he led Gold Circle’s initial entry into private labeling and championed the company’s direct import programs. In 1981, Mangiere joined Jefferson Wards discount division chain, where he was recognized as a leading, cutting-edge merchant.

Words like exuberant, focused, funny, passionate, sincere, hardworking and dynamic are among the many that could
describe Mangiere’s polychromatic personality. Mangiere has infused many organizations with his unique approach, which includes a delicate balance of energy, leadership and an optimistic attitude.
